Whether it's the miles of endless marshes or the sandy beaches surrounding St. Simons Island, the shops along Newcastle Street in downtown Brunswick or 18 holes of World-Class Golf on one of Sea Island's famed courses, the early morning hustle of Shrimp boats in Darien or the silent remnants of our area's past at the tabby ruins at Fort Frederica on St. Simons Island, the miles of nature trails on Jekyll Island or the brand new Sidney Lanier Bridge, the Golden Isles of Georgia leaves lasting impressions on everyone who visits our beautiful coastal community. | The Golden Isles consist of a vast area on the southeast coast of Georgia made up of mainland towns and cities and barrier islands, surrounded by rivers and saltwater marshes, in a unique environment, rarely found on the East Coast. Our community is a mixture of long time residents and newer transplants from all over the South, the country and the world. As such, there is a diversity here that creates an urbane and modern energy to the inherent, comfortable small town atmosphere. And, unlike many coastal areas, we are a thriving, year-round residential community with the commercial, social and cultural infrastructure to support our growing population. Perhaps these are the reasons why so many people are choosing to relocate here and raise their families, retire here, vacation here and invest their time and money here. |

One of the first and most important steps in finding a home is deciding on the area in which you want to live or invest. The Golden Isles offer a wide array of areas and neighborhoods, each with it's own characteristics and style to suit everyone's tastes and needs. The key is to understand your needs, decide what factors are most important to you, and choose an area that will be most suitable and realistic. (For a more comprehensive guide to prioritizing your home search, check out my Buyer's Page!) Statistics show that a home buyer will first "Buy a Neighborhood" and then they will "Buy the House". This essentially means that people are more likely to buy a home that doesn't completely meet their needs in the neighborhood they love as opposed to a home that completely meets their needs in a neighborhood they don't really like. With that being said, take a look around our area and see for yourself all that it has to offer. Unlike most counties, Glynn County itself if made up essentially of one major city, Brunswick. Aside from the barrier island of St. Simons, Jekyll and Sea Island, the mainland is essentially referred to as Brunswick, including outlying areas away from the incorporated city. North of Glynn, across the Altamaha River is McIntosh County and the city of Darien, a rapidly growing community. South lies Camden County, home of St. Mary's, Cumberland Island and King's Bay Submarine Base.
